Leslie Humphries and Friends : Pop Party
Karussel, Stereo 635 243
Germany 197x

This album is sick. It's by Leslie Humphries - that's him of the Les Humphries and Singers albums. Only this is earlier (I guess - there's no year on the album) and is way out wilder and groovier than ANYTHING he ever did before or since. There are heavy kraut and psych overtones on this LP and - best of all - no medleys !

Pop Party is damn hard to find, too. I know, because it took me years to score me a copy of my own. My pal Johan Dada Vis lent me his in february 2005 and I made this rip back then but couldn't find any reference to this LP online or off - apparently not many people know about this album. But now that I have this finally scratched off my want list it's time to share it with y'all.

So here's another chance to pick up a truely rare and obscure gem from Space Debris... Don't miss it !

Great post. I think the album is identical with Les' first album (only diffrent cover) after he left WONDERLAND in 1969: LES HUMPHRIES AND HIS FRIENDS / WALKING DOWN BROADWAY Karussell 1970.

Thanx

Hello, I found the link to this site on Derrickbostrom's page, whom I found after googling Les Humphries Singers.

I am a west german middle-aged woman who thought she possessed ALL (and I mean: ALL) records of Les Humphries.

I have been a fan since 1972, and during the 80s I have spent a fortune to buy all vinyl I could possibly find. How could I have missed this?

I lived in Hamburg during the 80s, I knew all second-hand-dealers by first name, and this LP is produced and released in Hamburg. I should have come across it, or at least: heard about it, even if it had been not availabe as second hand copy. But I had no idea about its existance until I read this blog. And I am stunned.

Cannot thank you enough.

The weird part: I am no longer living in Germany anymore, I married an American and dwell in the US now. And on my american computer I am finding this LP now. Unbelievable!

Thank you so much, I am so happy to discover this true trasure!!!

Thank you for this rare album.
This is an interesting album, and I can't find a reference to it anywhere. I still can't pin down the year it was made.
