Oswald d'Andrea

Oswald d'Andrea : Le Temps 0-12-24
Moshé Naim : MN12002 (France, 1970's)

NOTE : THIS ALBUM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS A DOWNLOAD

This time I've got some intellectual easy listening for you. A mood concept album, contemplating on the notion of time.
It can be argued you have to be French to handle such heavy theme with the kind of grace d'Andrea demonstrates on this album.
Oswald is not exactly a lightweight himself, of course... A reputed arranger for such big name French chansonniers as Joe Dassin and Georges Brassens, he also has numerous credits as soundtrack composer to his name.
I know him for an ultra rare LP he released on Polydor in the early 60's, called Starting-Music Auto. While that album has an earlier, orchestral sound, Le Temps is much more POP in a French yeh yeh sort of way. On both albums, however, he makes brilliant use of wordless vocals ('scat' as the French say).
I also provided a scan of the back cover, so you can read the philosophical foundation of this project.

Excellent!
Vraiment amusant le décalage entre le blabla intello de la pochette et la musique, pop à souhait.
Encore merci.

It reminds me the italian cinema soundtrack composers (Morricone, Trovaioli, Ortolani) for the musical side, and the Michel Gonet's Eve Forever for the "concept-album"'s side.
It's REALLY amazing, GREAT album!
