The Chinese Fighters

The Chinese Fighters : Kung Fu Fighting
Carrere : 67519 (France, 1970's)

NOTE: THIS ALBUM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS A DOWNLOAD

I've wanted to share this LP for a long time.

About a year ago I scored a copy on a flea market but it was in such terrible shape that I could only use a few tracks that had no pops or skips. A shame - since there are some great sounds on this LP. Greasy Belgian funk at its best. A glance at the composer's names reveals this is yet another product of El Chicles under a different name. In fact, compare this album to the Wah Wah reissued La La La and you'll discover half of the tracks are the same but with a different title.

Anyway, last week I found another copy and since it was in excellent shape I wasted no time to rip it.

Once you get past Douglas' hit Kung Fu Fighting they slowly get their machine into gear and by the time you've reached the end of side one there's no stopping.

As an avid Kung Fu enthusiast I consider this a fine specimen of that age when Bruce Lee ruled.
Those were the days.

Tracks:
Kung Fu Fighting
Kung Fu N'Ky
Hong Kong Lizzy
Disco Streak
Big Boss Is Dead
King Kong
My Chinese Girl Likes Kung Fu Fighting
Kung Fu Is Back Home
Karatekaze
Black Belt
Brother Kung Fu
Karate Cut

And we have our cover of Kung Fu fighting here in Finland as well. It's by the ultimate macho-man Frederik and called Kung Fu taistelee: ..."Joka pelätyn Kung Fun taitaa, käy päälle vaikka kivistä aitaa"

Thanks for this cool "European exploitation" artifact Kristof. I like the way they put previously available tracks from their "la la la" LP in the old Rita Moreno/Man tradition.
This LP is now at the top of my favorite "Kung Fu Craze" records playlist alongside Lee Perry's "Kung Fu meets The Dragon".

This has got some wicked breaks in it - it's a pretty rare record isn't it?

Apart from the 1st track (obviously) anyone know if much of the music has released else where?

Cheers

O

Track 10, "Black Belt" is the ultimate 12-string acoustic folk-funk...What an unexplored genre!
